Becoming a content designer: what I’ve learned

A year ago today I joined Crocstar. Happy Crocaversary to me!

One of the highlights during the year was being introduced to the world of content design and getting to work on several digital transformation projects. It’s a growing discipline and I’m so glad I’m a member of such an important community and get to work and collaborate with fellow content nerds.

The main thing I've picked up on is a lot of people think they can write (while coding and visual design are difficult skills to master). The truth is, not everyone can write for digital and the skills involved such as planning, writing and making sure the content is user-focused is highly undervalued.

Content designers are creative problem solvers. No matter what challenge they’re faced with, they search for creative solutions. In summary: they’re awesome.

Here’s to many more years as a Crocstar, gaining more experience as a content designer and continuing to work with the coolest boss lady I know.

Before you go:

Crocstar will be launching its Content Design School later this year to help train the next batch of digital transformation superheroes. Whether you’re just starting out, looking to top up your skills or fancy a career change, this could be perfect for you.
