What is mentoring?

In mentoring, you pair up with an experienced individual who supports your development. They share knowledge, experience and advice with the goal of helping you become ‘unstuck’ and make progress.

Mentoring gives you the opportunity to reflect on your work and decisions in a neutral environment. You’ll get tailored support and advice from an experienced practitioner.

At Crocstar, we think of it as a safe space to chat about any issues you’re having at work or with your career. Sessions are friendly, relaxed and you set the agenda.

Why have mentoring?

There are too many benefits to list, so here are just three:

  1. A mentor has your development in mind. It's not about them, it's about you.

  2. Mentors are objective. They're not directly involved with your projects or workplace, so they can see things you might not be able to.

  3. Get encouragement. Sometimes you're not sure how to carry on, which is when having them give you a boost might be just the thing you need.

About your mentor

Christine Cawthorne has lots of experience in content design and content strategy – from training thousands to write for GOV.UK from 2013 to 2018 – to working on content design projects in the public, private and third sectors.

She’s worked in huge content teams in government departments, in multi-disciplinary teams in the public sector and as the only content person in commercial and charity projects. She’s had plenty of 'difficult' conversations and lived to talk about it.

Christine has mentored many people over the years, and would love to help you in your content design journey.

We offer content mentoring for anyone who needs to talk through their options, wants advice and a neutral ear.

You can have one session or as many as you like. Each session is 1 hour long, done over Zoom. Choose a day and time that suits you.

Each session costs £75+VAT.
